Mechanics
This page includes and tackles various game mechanics. Mechanics include any element of the game that determines interaction of the player with the world. This includes information and details about the following: Electricity, thrusters, factions, gravity, oxygen, weapons, conveyors, and programming.
The most important game mechanics to read first:

Center of Gravity
The center of gravity setting can be accessed from the Terminal under the Info tab. Selecting this will create a cross-hair indicating the Center of Gravity (CoG), or rather the center of mass. This is particularly good to know when setting Gyroscopes. The setting will activate the CoG for all ships (separating Rotor block sets).
Grouping
Grouping functional blocks in a grid allows simultaneous control of several select items. Grouping will allow you to switch all members on and off, as well all allow you to access fine controls of a block kind, as long as all blocks are of the same kind and have the same settings when being grouped. For instance, if you create a group containing only doors, then the “open” and “close” controls will be available for this group. You can control Groups though the Grid Functions toolbar.
You group blocks by entering the control panel of the Terminal. Hold Ctrl and click every item to include (or click the first item in a row, hold Shift and click the last item in a row); then type a group name in the text box on the right, and click “save”. Groups will be listed first in the control panel and are surrounded with two asterisks.
